Postal Mailing Requirements

United States Postal Service (USPS) regulations dictate business and personal mailing specifications that are important to remember when working on a piece to be mailed.

  • A piece of mail of an inch or less in thickness must measure at least 3 inches high by 5 inches long.
  • 7 pt. is the minimum thickness permitted for any mailed piece.
  • 108 combined inches (length and girth) is the maximum size for a mailed piece.
  • Most cover weight papers make suitable postcards, mailers and business reply cards.
